Whether you work in a helping profession or not, self-care is important! Taking time for yourself to do things that energize you will improve the quality of your life and your relationships. We all have jobs, families, friendships, and responsibilities that require our energy and drain us at times. While scheduling time for self-care may feel like adding yet another item to your already busy “To-Do List,” try to remember that making time for yourself to do things that recharge your batteries will actually give you the energy to do the other items on your checklist with more efficiency and empathy.
The staff of The Stone Center recently spent an afternoon painting and socializing together at The Wine Palette in Plaza Midwood, and not only was it great fun, but we also got to spend time doing something creative and challenging. Self-care doesn’t have to be hard. Take time to go for a run, write in your journal, take a bubble bath, or read your favorite book, and I promise you won’t regret it.
Invest in yourself. You’re worth it!
